As part of our Engineering week activities, we looked at this animation to get us thinking about how the world around us is made and where design fits in. The film can be viewed here. Please watch this at home and chat to your family about it.
This section of the website is useful for reflecting on the film and asking questions relating to our own lives on topics such as home, community, information, spaces, objects, experiences, technology and communications with a list of the types of jobs in that area. We will be chatting about this briefly in class but it would be great to chat to your family about it at home and share your ideas with the class the next day in school. We did a construction challenge in the classroom today. Every child made a cube, a triangle-based pyramid and a square based pyramid, each using cocktail sticks and blue tac. They had to try and make them as strong as they could, then choose which one they thought was strongest to withstand the weight of a box of crayons. Many constructions managed to succeed in the challenge and hold up the crayon box....even if it was for only a few minutes! We celebrated book week this week and the children enjoyed lots of D.E.A.R time where we 'Drop Everything and Read'. The children talked about their favourite books and authors and some even dressed up as their favourite characters from a story. We showed off our costumes in the school parade on World Book Day.
The children did fantastic work on their book reviews and we put them up on display in the classroom for everyone to see. Each of the children created a butterfly with their favourite book title and author written on it and added it to the fantastic display in the main entrance of the school. Some of the children entered the poster competition too, winners will be announced next week. Well done Lime Class! |
