We had lots of fun for Active Schools Week. Every day we did athletics out on the grass beside the yard. We had races against each other. On Thursday we had our sports day across the school. We had the opportunity to do lots of different sporting activities: parachute games, obstacle course, yoga, tag rugby, basketball, GAA games, football and relay races. On Friday, the Lime Class were involved in a soccer tournament too. Teams were made up from pupils in 3rd-6th Class. There were four matches and then a final. It went to penalties so we were very excited. Well done to all involved!
We had a fantastic school tour today in Kildare Maze. Our class went with the Hazel and Birch classes and we split up into 3 large groups to navigate around all the different play areas. There was a wooden maze where we had a race to search for 9 tags and fill in stamps on a card. Then we did some crazy golf where some of us even managed to get a hole in one! The hedge maze was the biggest attraction there and it was huge! We managed to get lost and had to help each other find our way to the lookout tower in the centre. We had fun on the zipline, in the outdoor play area and in the sandpit too. There was some unusual looking pigs for us to see along with some hens and a goat. It was the best day ever!
Reminder about wonderful Intercultural Day that takes place this Friday 26th May! We will be kicking things off with an Intercultural Breakfast for all the parents - so please join us and bring along your favourite breakfast foods from around the world at 8.30am in the hall! Afterwards, parents will be treated to performances from classes; displays of project work and a colourful parade of the whole school community wearing their county colours or country dress! We cannot wait for everyone to join us for this fantastic celebration of our amazing Intercultural school community! See you there!
We had a fantastic day out today in Santry, representing and supporting our school teams in Athletics. We competed in relay races and sprints and were very proud to receive a couple of second places. Go Powerstown! All the children took part in a parade around the track before the races started. We had the best seats to watch the races from as we were right in front of the finish line. Well done to all who took part and all the children that cheered for their school mates. It was a day to remember!
We were lucky to have a fabulous sunny day for our sponsored walk. We walked 5km on the senior walk and got great exercise. A policeman stopped traffic for us to cross the road at the busy roundabout. It was lots of fun. We even spotted a couple of hares on our walk. Well done Lime Class!
