Gilín Sneachta performance for Seachtain na Gaeilge Our School Tour to Kildare Maze with Hazel & Birch classes We would like to invite parents to attend our annual Family Appreciation Day tomorrow!
The BBQ will kick off at 12.30pm in the courtyard (weather permitting!!). 1st-6th classes will be brought down with their class teacher to eat some food and have some fun and they will then return to their classes as normal. Junior and Senior Infant classes will be released to their parents at 13.10pm as usual and parents are then asked to bring them along to the BBQ. Everyone will receive a ticket that they can exchange for their BBQ treat! Parents can attend the event from 12.30pm and are invited to bring along any salad accompaniments they would like to share with each other. Please ensure you let your class teacher know (if they don't already) if there are specific foods your child is not permitted to eat during this event. There will be music, dancing and playground games so there will be lots of fun alongside the food so everyone should have a lovely afternoon. We look forward to seeing you there to celebrate all our fantastic families following another amazing year in P.E.T.N.S.! We went outside to do some digging in our school garden and discover what had grown under the soil. We were delighted to find lots of radishes that had grown from seeds and everyone got to take 2 or 3 radishes home to add to their family meals. Our green school members also dug up some potatoes that were ready to eat too. We planted tomato seeds earlier in the year in the classroom and then transported them out to a bigger planter in the courtyard. With all the lovely sunshine we had, the tomato plants really blossomed and grew. By the time our school holidays finished the tomatoes weren't fully grown so they had to stay where they were. We all agreed getting our hands dirty in the school garden was great fun!
Even though there was lots of excitement in school the last couple of weeks with our Jungle Book whole school production, we were also feeling tinges of sadness in the Lime Class. It was coming to the end of Michal's time in our school as he is moving to County Roscommon. We all made a card for him and everyone drew a picture for the front of it and wrote a message to him inside. We had a farewell party and enjoyed some ice pops in the Lime Class. In all the excitement and hurrying around I didn't manage to get a picture of the card but here's some of the children enjoying their ice pops (if they weren't already eaten by the time I took the pic!). Best of luck in your new home and school Michal, you will really be missed :( We all agreed that one of the main highlights of our school year was finishing it off with the whole school production of the Jungle Book. There was lots of excitement, laughter, a little bit of nerves but most importantly lots of fun! Everyone made a huge effort to build and decorate the stage, the screens, make costumes, do face paint, make the programme, learn their lines, sing the songs and perform to a packed audience. The children received a standing ovation for their fantastic efforts. Well done to everyone involved and especially Mike the Director who was the main man in charge. It was a fun and proud moment for Powerstown ETNS. We have just completed our dress rehearsal for The Jungle Book musical and excitement is growing around the halls of P.E.T.N.S.! Children and staff have worked so hard over the past few weeks and months- we cannot wait for all our families to come along tomorrow night to watch the performance!
Don't miss out and ensure you get your tickets on sale before and after school! Family tickets €20; Adult €10; Child: €5. The show starts at 6.30pm Friday 23rd June; we look forward to welcoming you then. There will be a raffle on the night and programmes for sale for €1. Please help to support our school. Thank you, hope to see you tomorrow! We had lots of fun for Active Schools Week. Every day we did athletics out on the grass beside the yard. We had races against each other. On Thursday we had our sports day across the school. We had the opportunity to do lots of different sporting activities: parachute games, obstacle course, yoga, tag rugby, basketball, GAA games, football and relay races. On Friday, the Lime Class were involved in a soccer tournament too. Teams were made up from pupils in 3rd-6th Class. There were four matches and then a final. It went to penalties so we were very excited. Well done to all involved! We had a fantastic school tour today in Kildare Maze. Our class went with the Hazel and Birch classes and we split up into 3 large groups to navigate around all the different play areas. There was a wooden maze where we had a race to search for 9 tags and fill in stamps on a card. Then we did some crazy golf where some of us even managed to get a hole in one! The hedge maze was the biggest attraction there and it was huge! We managed to get lost and had to help each other find our way to the lookout tower in the centre. We had fun on the zipline, in the outdoor play area and in the sandpit too. There was some unusual looking pigs for us to see along with some hens and a goat. It was the best day ever! |
